Superfood Shake Recipe - Nutrition Dynamics

Here is a smoothie that embraces some of the superfoods that are now easily available and getting well known for their health benefits. Adding the protein powder will help you to lose weight as protein sustains you for longer and stops the cravings between meals. You will feel more energised as this Superfood Shake smoothie supports your metabolism, perfect for breakfast or after a workout.

Serves 1

1 tbsp gogi berries, soaked in water overnight, drained
100ml coconut milk
100g fresh or frozen blueberries
1 tbsp chai seeds
1 scoop green (2 tsp) superfood powder
1 tsp coconut oil
1 tbsp protein powder (your own choice, whey or non–dairy)

What’s so good about this smoothie?

Gogi berries contain Vitamin C, B2, A, iron, selenium and other antioxidants giving them superfood status. It has been suggested that these dried berries can boost the immune system and brain activity, protect again heart disease and cancer and improve life expectancy. While there are no scientific reports to support this they certainly add a little something extra to this smoothie. On the other hand Blueberries certainly pack a powerful nutritional punch. A good source of vitamin K, they also contain vitamin C, fibre, manganese and other anti-oxidants (notably anthocyanins). Evidence suggests that consuming blueberries regularly can help protect again heart disease and some cancers, as well as improve your memory.

Chai seeds epitomise the concept of ‘super-foods. They are rich in fat burning in fat-burning omega-3 fatty acids as well a having antioxidants and other good nutrients. Being fibre rich they will help you feel full for longer.
